COVID-19 Razor Sharp March 17th Update:

We appreciate your support during this very challenging time for Razor Sharp Fitness and our community. We tried our best to keep your club open while maintaining a healthy environment for our members and staff. After the new order by Governor Evers today, we have to close both clubs (Washington Ave and Erie St) effective immediately beginning tonight at 5pm. We are not sure how long this closure will last.

We have never closed our doors in the 17 years we have been in business and we didn’t make this decision lightly. We intend to open our clubs as soon as reasonably possible but not before it is determined that it is prudent to do so. We realize that these times are hard for all of us and understand that the Razor Sharp Fitness is your home away from home. In the end, the safety of our members and staff is our highest priority.

During this time, your membership will be placed on freeze at no cost to you beginning Wednesday, March 18. You will not need to call to place your membership on freeze. We will notify you when the club reopens and billing will resume.

If you have registered for paid classes or have appointments scheduled with our Personal Trainers, Massage Therapists, Swim Instructors or any other staff during this time, your appointment will be cancelled, and you will not be charged. All pre-paid services will be honored. We know how important Razor Sharp Fitness is to your lifestyle. We will continue to communicate with you as we obtain new information. We look forward to welcoming you back to Razor Sharp Fitness shortly. Please be sure to check the website and follow us on social media for updates. Today, we had trainers and instructors create videos for anyone who wants to stay active in their home (including Yoga, Pilates, R30 and PT designed workouts). We will get these videos out to you as soon as possible via email, social media and our website. We appreciate all members and are thankful to our hardworking staff during this unprecedented time.

Wishing all of you the best. Be safe and remain healthy.

– Mike, Terri, Jacob and the rest of the wonderful Razor Sharp Fitness Staff

COVID-19 Razor Sharp Update March 13th:

What is Razor Sharp Fitness doing about COVID 19?

Razor Sharp Fitness is continuing to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak as it continues to evolve. We realize the importance of communication as we work to ensure the health and safety of our staff and members. We will be following and implementing suggestions from trusted organizations including the Wisconsin Department of Health and the CDC. We will also, as a business, make decisions that are best for our community. In all situations, we will seek the input of the experts.

Razor Sharp Fitness has also taken the actions to assist in having a safe and clean environment for our members. We have brought in additional staff to be constantly disinfecting and cleaning all surfaces around the club. And we have also changed out our cleaning solution to a hospital grade product. Along with the staffing and cleaning product, after each studio class we are wiping down all equipment. Razor Sharp will continue to monitor our cleaning schedules and staffing and make any changes necessary to support this process.

Frequently asked questions about Razor Sharp Fitness and the Coronavirus:

Over the past few days, we have received questions regarding different parts of the club and things we are doing about this pandemic. To help with some of these questions, we wanted to get these out for all of you to read.

  1. Are the chemicals that you use in the pools (Lap Pool, Therapy Pool and Whirlpool) killing the coronavirus? Answer: At this time, we do not know enough about the coronavirus to answer this question. Razor Sharp Fitness is ensuring that all pools are running as balanced and efficiently as possible and following the Wisconsin Department of Health and CDC for additional and future information when it becomes available.
  2. Will you be shutting down the Steam room or Sauna because of the coronavirus? Answer: Similar to the above question about pools, there is no information about the coronavirus that shows that these types of areas need to be closed at this time. So as of now, they will remain open until we get further information from the Wisconsin Department of Health and/or the CDC.

Will Razor Sharp Fitness temporarily close?

At this time, we are open and running all programs and services and we have no expectations to close our facility unless being mandated to do so. This is a fluid situation occurring around the world, and if anything changes, we will be sure to email information out as well as use our website and social media platforms.

How will you communicate to members?

Please be sure to check your email for any updates, also, if you have any questions, refer to our website and social media outlets.

What can I do to minimize my risk of getting COVID 19 at the club?

  • Stay at home if you have fever, runny nose, cough, sneezing or other respiratory symptoms, or if you believe you are sick.
  • Wipe down equipment BEFORE and AFTER you use it. When using the cleaning towel, spray the sanitizer on the towel, not directly onto the equipment as this can be damaging to the equipment.
  • Wash your hands when you enter the club, before you leave, before you eat, and of course, whenever you use the restroom. It has been proven time and again that hand washing is the most effective way to fight germs. You also want to ensure that you are washing your hands properly: use hot water, plenty of soap, and fully lather and work the soap in and around your fingers for at least 30 seconds (need to time it? sing “Happy Birthday” to yourself twice.)
  • Use hand sanitizer, we have them located in many places throughout the club. We stocked up on as much hand sanitizer as we could, which is now sold out/on backorder. So we will utilize this as long as we have it. Example: if you move from one piece of machinery to another, move to another area of the club, or pick up a new set of weights.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your arm, not your hands, when you cough or sneeze.
  • The key to being healthy is holistic wellness. Take care of yourself. Stay hydrated. Maintain a balanced diet. Get plenty of sleep. Exercise regularly. Staying well is much more than just avoiding sickness. If you do experience any symptoms of cold, flu, or otherwise, please stay home to prevent the transmission of disease.

What actions should we take to protect our family?

Right now, the most important actions people in our community can take to prevent illness are simple and effective. The Wisconsin Department of Health indicates that following these basic good health practices is the most effective way to protect yourself and your family:

  • Consider getting a seasonal flu shot. It’s not too late.
  • Make sure to cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Encourage frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Model frequent hand washing in your home and workplace.
  • Keep children home from school until fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • If you plan to go to the doctor with flu-like symptoms, please call ahead so the clinic can be prepared for your arrival.

Additionally, you may take this opportunity to review your family’s emergency plans. Think about backup plans for child care if school is temporarily closed or if parents, children, or a child care provider is sick. Think about necessary items to have at home, including prescription medication (check your refill dates), and non-prescription medications, such as fever-reducing medications.

COVID-19 Razor Sharp Update March 4th:

Coronavirus: What you need to know and what the club is doing!

New viruses are scary, and it can be difficult to discern what is truth and what is media hype.

In the health and fitness realm, we are always making the overall wellness of our members a top priority. We want to do our part to not only keep you healthy but also to keep you informed.

As we continue to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we realize the importance of communication as we work to ensure the health and safety of our staff and members. We will be following and implementing suggestions from our trusted organizations and the Wisconsin Department of Health. We can also, as a business, make decisions that are best for our community. In all situations, we will seek the input of the experts.

According to the Wisconsin DOH, “Currently, the immediate risk to the general public in Wisconsin and the United States is considered to be low. There is no evidence that COVID-19 is spreading in Wisconsin at this time.” Although this is good news, we understand that the Coronavirus situation is very fluid, and circumstances can change. It is for this reason that we maintain a close connection with the DOH, and will communicate any changes quickly and efficiently.

Here are a few easy things we can all do to keep ourselves healthy in general, as it is still cold and flu season, at the club:

1) Wipe down equipment BEFORE and AFTER you use it. Please use a towel, spray the sanitizer on the towel, not directly onto the equipment as this can be damaging.

2) Use hand sanitizer in between equipment. Example: if you move from one piece of machinery to another, move to another area of the club, or pick up a new set of weights.

3) Wash your hands when you enter the club,  before you leave, before you eat, and of course, whenever you use the restroom.

4) Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your arm, not your hands, when you cough or sneeze.

5) The key to being healthy is holistic wellness.

As a team, we will be working together to clean surfaces at the club more diligently and regularly. You will see our member experience team and maintenance staff cleaning more often. We are also ordering more supplies to have extra sanitizer on hand for both equipment cleaning and for personal use.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any one of our management team. Thank you for doing your part to keep yourself and others healthy.
